Dr Vishwajeet Rana
Group CEO
Dr Vishwajeet Rana serves as the Group CEO of GEDU. He holds an MBA from Ohio University and an MS and PhD from Stevens Institute of Technology. His earlier career experiences include working at HSBC’s New York office, where he executed complex cross-border equity and debt-structured investments and financing transactions across the UK, Canada, Australia, South Africa and Hong Kong.
Dr Rana is passionate about the transformative role of education, actively researching global education models and applying them to expand access and unlock student potential through higher education. In recognition of his contributions to widening participation and advancing social mobility, he was appointed as an Honorary Member of the Advisory Board of UNITAR’s Division for People and Social Inclusion in 2025.
Dr Rana is also a published author. His works include the textbook Dr Rana on Applied Corporate Valuation & Financial Modelling as well as the forthcoming co-authored volume Our Coastal Heritage: Conserving the World’s Shores for People & Nature.
Professor Ray Lloyd
Deputy CEO
Professor Ray Lloyd is Deputy CEO at GEDU. Until recently, he was also the CEO of Global Banking School (GBS), one of the institutions within the GEDU Group. He was previously Deputy Vice-Chancellor at Leeds Trinity University and Head of Department and Dean at Abertay University.
Professor Lloyd’s first degree was in mathematics, which he taught for several years both in London and in Botswana, where he also served as the director of coaching for their track and field association.
Following his return to the UK in 1996, he completed a Master’s degree in Sports Science, followed by a PhD in the same field, combining academic activities with elite sport roles.
Jonny Bourne
Chief of Staff to Group CEO
Jonny Bourne is Chief of Staff to the Group CEO of GEDU, with a focus on strategic delivery and leadership coordination across the Middle East. He is a senior education executive with extensive leadership experience across higher education, K12 and vocational sectors in the UK and the Middle East.
Before joining GEDU, he led a government-sponsored start-up in Saudi Arabia focused on skills training and employability. Previously in Dubai, he was the CEO of Cognita Schools Middle East, and before that he served as the Chief Operating Officer and Fellow of Trinity College, Cambridge, where he led major institutional transformation and commercial initiatives.
Jonny’s career includes executive roles with global education, technology organisations and senior leadership appointments across the Gulf region. A Harvard Business School and University of Cambridge graduate, and a former British Army Brigadier General recognised for leadership and service. He brings deep expertise to GEDU in educational strategy, operational delivery and cross-cultural transformation.
