Assessment

Assessment

Testing your knowledge is not limited to exams. We use multiple assessment methods because real business skills show up in different ways. Throughout each semester, you will demonstrate competency through varied approaches that reflect how business works.

Assessment methods used:

  • Presentation – Present complex analyses, defend strategic recommendations, communicate persuasively to senior audiences
  • Writen assignment – Strategic analyses, business plans, research reports at professional standard
  • Case study analysing – Examine real business scenarios and recommend strategic solutions based on evidence
  • Portfolio of evidence – Compile your work across semesters showing your strategic thinking development
  • Reports writing – Formal business reports with findings, strategic analysis, and recommendations

How assessment works:

You will be assessed regularly throughout each semester, not just at the end. It means you get feedback early and often. You will understand what is working and where to refine your thinking, so there are no surprises when the grades come in.

In addition to these practical assessments, you are also required to take a **TVTC Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) examination at the end of each semester**. This standardised exam ensures your knowledge meets Saudi Arabia's vocational training standards and complements your practical work.

Assessment breakdown:

  • Advanced projects (45%) – Substantial assignments completed over four to six weeks, demanding research and analysis.
  • Case analysis (25%) – Examining real business scenarios and recommending solutions.
  • Presentations and defence (20%) – You present your work and answer challenging questions.
  • Reflective work (10%) – Demonstrating meta-awareness of your learning.

Grading scale:

Distinction*, Distinction, Merit, Pass – showing the depth of your strategic thinking as well as your exam performance.

Self-study expectations:

Success on this course depends heavily on your independent work. You will need to:

  • Conduct more than 20 hours per week of independent research
  • Finish major projects on schedule
  • Lead group discussions and activities
  • Engage deeply in strategic analysis

This is not a passive learning process. You are taking responsibility for your development as a business thinker. While lecturers will guide you, the intellectual work is yours.

Why this matters:

Assessment methods such as these prepare you for real-life management situations. You will present to executives, write strategic reports, analyse complex business problems, and build portfolios of your work – exactly as you will in senior business positions.

The internship experience

Semester 5: Your real-world internship:

After completing all Level 3 modules, you'll spend your final semester working in a real business environment. This transforms classroom learning into professional capability.

The final semester of the Diploma in Business is dedicated exclusively to internships, providing learners with valuable workplace experience in a real business environment. During this period, students are supported by structured internship opportunities that allow them to apply their academic knowledge in practical settings.

The internship is designed to develop essential transferable skills, including professional communication, teamwork, problem-solving, time management, and workplace ethics. This internship experience helps learners understand industry expectations, build confidence, and enhance their employability, preparing them to be future-ready for entry into the workforce or further career progression.

What makes our internships valuable:

  • Real work: You are not making coffee or filing paperwork – you are doing meaningful business work.
  • Relevant placement: We match your interests with organisations in your chosen field.
  • Professional mentorship: You work with experienced professionals who guide your development.
  • Application: You apply everything from the classroom to real scenarios.
  • Networking: You build professional relationships that benefit your career.
  • References: Many students receive strong professional references from internships.

Career impact:

  • Your internship becomes a major resume talking point.
  • You graduate with recent work experience, not just education.
  • Professional network established before job hunting begins.

Frequently asked questions (Level 3)

Higher than Level 2. You will conduct independent research for more than 20 hours per week. You will work on major projects over four to six weeks that demand real depth. You will lead seminars and present complex analyses. Your lecturers expect you to think critically and challenge ideas, not just absorb concepts. The Level 3 experience is not for those looking for a lecture-based, passive experience. But it is an excellent opportunity if you are looking for a genuine intellectual challenge and development as a business thinker.

In rare cases, yes. If you have strong prior business experience, significant work background, or equivalent qualifications, you might enter directly. Level 2 is nevertheless valuable, as it allows you to share language and concepts with your classmates, and it ensures you do not struggle with fundamentals as you tackle advanced material. Most students benefit from a full two-year programme. Contact admissions to discuss your specific situation.

We cannot guarantee it, but it is a common occurrence. You will receive job offers from placement companies based on your knowledge of your studies. Why? It is because you are doing real work, demonstrating your abilities and employers have a first-hand view of your potential. But it depends on your performance, the company and the job market. Regardless, the internship gives you recent work experience, professional references and a network, all valuable for job hunting.

Absolutely. It is a Pearson BTEC qualification, recognised in universities and by employers across the UK, EU, USA, Middle East, Asia and other parts of the world. It is equivalent to A-Level standard in the UK. Employers abroad recognise this qualification if you wish to pursue postgraduate studies abroad. Nevertheless, it is advisable to always check specific requirements with the university or employer you wish to enrol in.

Perfect. Many students use Level 3 as a pathway to university. UK universities accept BTEC Level 3 as meeting entry requirements for business degrees. You might enter directly into year 1 of a bachelor's degree, or universities may give you credit and allow you to progress faster. Some graduates go on to pursue master's degrees (MBA, MSc) after working for a few years. Level 3 gives you multiple progression routes.
